Who is box church?

Pastors & Staff

Matthew Day

Founder and Lead Pastor

Matt Day became a Christian at the age of six. At the age of eleven, God audibly called him to preach, speaking five words to him, "I want you to preach." Matt surrendered to that call when he was thirteen years old. His favorite Bible verse has remained 1 Peter 2:2, "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word so that you may grow thereby, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good." He received his master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and after pastoring a traditional modeled church for almost fourteen years, the Lord gave this vision of Box Church to him in December of 2018 with a launch date in 2020. "2020 is a year of innovation for the Church, seeing the church with new eyes and with 20/20 vision." God confirmed this vision to him through the verse, Acts 20:20. "I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publically or in your homes." He is gratefully married to Amelia (1999). and they have four children: Mary Katelyn (2004), Holden (2006), Caroline (2009) and Eli (2013).

It brings the idea of community worship back to its roots.”
